A sea of colors swarmed EBHS last Friday as the International Club hosted their annual Bollywood Night. Students wore traditional South Asian attire and danced to iconic Indian music. This was the first year that the club could host the event after the pandemic, making it highly anticipated.

However, this event was no walk in the park to plan. International Club had their hands full when preparing for the night. There was a lot that had to be done in order to make it a success. Adequate music must be selected, decorations must be made, and food must be planned out. The International Club was able to do just that. One way they were able to handle such a workload was with all of their members. Tanuj Chandekar, co-president of the club, said that “in the past, we haven’t really included them in the planning process, but this year, they helped with decorations, music selection, and more. Hearing different ideas from everyone was a great part of planning.” Tanuj was even able to get Anuj Chauhan, a member of International Club while he attended EBHS, to DJ the event.

The event was considered a great success by the club, as students at EBHS were able to get a peek into South Asian culture. Jiya Desi, a member of International Club executive board, said she “wasn’t going to miss a chance to celebrate my culture at EBHS. From all the videos and photos I’ve seen of Bollywood night before covid, it seemed like a really fun event.”

With the great planning from International Club, the event gave students the opportunity to celebrate South Asian culture.
