“People are simple. They see a shiny red car and they want that. It appeals to people’s most basic human instinct,” acknowledged Mohammed Alkhafaji, 10. Supercars and almost every car have some sort of intriguing extremity to the human’s eye, either being looks, speed, or even luxury. Paralleling the rise in supercars from the Fast and Furious movies, and the luxury of the Mercedes-Benz, is an equally rapid increase in the amount of eye-catching cars you can perceive on the street. According to a survey given to students at EBHS, the major focus was the looks and speed of Japanese supercars.

The survey, Classic or Contemporary, containing a variety of cars, revealed the most popular car to be the thrilling Nissan GT-R. Though this supercar killer doesn’t have the best gas mileage, it’s still chosen to this day for its famous debut in 2 Fast 2 Furious and its 565-600 horsepower. The prominent machine has the nickname of “Godzilla” through its powerful premiere and inception in the early 80s. About 67% of people who chose the Nissan GT-R also chose looks and speed as the reason it is their favorite car.

With the development of technology, the living standard is getting better so that people look forward to owning better consumer goods. Most of the 250 survey responses reported a connection with Japanese supercars. 86% of the survey responses enjoy the modded supercars of Japan, adding the Toyota Supra, Nissan GT-R, and the Mazda RX-7. These modded machines are loved worldwide for their race seats, LSD (Limited Slip Differential), turbos, and drift tires. Many people turn their heads when they hear a loud engine booming past, while others are in awe of the brand of the car.

Due to their impenetrable engines, these supercars don’t have the best gas mileage. The controversy between supercars and conceited sports car owners is kindled daily. Though there is no need to have a disagreement with other car owners, because in the hindsight they’re just driving machines, it is still a very controversial topic to this day.

Nonetheless, people may be simple, seeing a shiny, fast, red car and immediately longing for it. People’s appeal to those cars is uncomplicated and even so demanding. Additionally, the Nissan GT-R is still the most famous Japanese car to this day, and this trend is seen within the students of EBHS.
