Televisions in the Terminal

Walk down the halls and you’ll be surrounded by the new and exciting technology that has entered East Brunswick this year. One of the latest additions is the televisions in the terminal. The day after they were installed, students were confused as to what they were for

“When I first walked in and saw them in the hallway, I was very confused,” senior Brenna Murphy states. “They were very big and there was a crowd of students around them. But no one knew why they were there.” When the morning announcements aired the next day, their questions were still unresolved.

Fortunately, Bear Hub was able to get an interview with Dr. Vinella and address students’ unanswered questions. When asked about what will be shown on the TVs, Dr. Vinella explained, “Every year there will be new nominees that will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Once they’re inducted they will be transferred in the same way with the posters.”

The school has some big plans for the TVs, combining them with the EBHS Hall of Fame. “The long term vision,” Dr. Vinella says, “Is that there would be an interactive capability with the TVs so you can choose to find out who these people are.”

The inner two TVs will show interviews of inductees of the EBHS Hall of Fame, and the outer two will be displaying current students and their achievements. By starting to display the accomplishments of students, these TVs can better the whole school community. They help give pride to those who have earned it, and show students that it is possible to make something out of yourself after high school. The Hall of Fame will be an ongoing project in EB. Students are already giving suggestions as to whom the school should put in the hallway; a big consensus is that Jesse Eisenberg deserves induction. He is a famous actor who has starred in multi-million-dollar box office hits such as Now You See Me and The Social Network, but he too once walked the halls of EBHS. The Hall of Fame is bringing students together with the buzz about who else can be inducted. It helps students create and set goals for themselves, and inspire them to think about their futures with ambition and hope.
