Connecting Students with Foreign Language

When surveying 146 students, many gave different perspectives as to the importance of learning a foreign language and how they stay motivated to practice. To these students, I asked, “How much time do you spend a week practicing the language your learning?” Here are the results.

When asked how they explore the language and practice, many noted the use of Duolingo, family and friends that speak the language, watching different shows and movies, and listening to music. In an increasingly interconnected world where people are learning to be more accepting of differences, it is important to learn other languages to create understanding between different cultures, reducing prejudice and allowing for meaningful interactions.
