Let’s Go Bears, Let’s Go!

In the shake of a pom-pom, the seniors’ last fall cheer season was over- but they were just happy to be able to cheer.

The varsity cheerleading team stands together and gets ready to chant in unison. Senior Marisa Myron (on the very left) says her favorite cheer is “ ‘Go Big Green!’ because it involves crowd interaction and that’s always really fun. You always want everyone else to feel just as excited as you.”

Let’s Go Bears, Let’s Go! As you read those words, you can also probably hear the cheerleaders’ energetic chants in your head.

Although this year’s football and fall cheerleading season was a bit unconventional- with a ruined turf and home games in neighboring towns — the cheerleaders were more than ready to get back into it.

Varsity cheerleader Allie Johnson (12) told the Hub: “Finally being back to a semi-normal cheer season with the Bear Den attending the football games has been so incredible. I’m really going to miss that good energy every Friday night.”

After a year of not being able to cheer at games, the cheerleaders made an enthusiastic return to the football fields and made the games more fun than ever.

Senior varsity cheerleader Jenna Piscopiello explained the special connection that the cheer team has and how they are able to work so well together: “Everyone is so close and most of us have grown up together.”

She added, “My favorite part about being captain is getting to help make the team successful. Whether it’s giving corrections or suggesting things to add to the routine. I enjoy getting to be a role model for the rest of the team”

“With cheer,” she said, “I have always felt like I was a part of something bigger.”
