Jenna Garofalo is an EBHS junior athlete who knows a thing or two about hard work and dedication. From practicing softball five days a week, to doing homework in between her rigorous practice schedule, Jenna knows that balancing her time properly is key when it comes to achieving her goals. She has been doing this since she was five and she has gotten pretty good at it.  When asked how she does it all she explains that all you need is hard work and dedication.

Q: HOW HAS SOFTBALL AFFECTED YOUR SCHOOL LIFE?

A: It affected my school work by showing how responsible I have to be. It has also made me learn dedication and how much I have to put hard work into everything that I do.

Q: HOW HAS YOUR FAMILY HELPED SUPPORT YOU IN YOUR SOFTBALL CAREER?

A:  My mom takes me to pitching lessons every Thursday, she catches for me outside when I want to practice extra and I hit in the cages so she also pays for that.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR YEAR LIKE DURING SOFTBALL?

A:  I have to go from softball to softball, and do homework in the car. I have lessons in between that, for example after softball I get home at six sometimes on game days and four on practice days. Then I have to go in the car to another practice while doing homework in the car.

Q: WAS THERE EVER A TIME YOU WANTED TO STOP PLAYING?

A: When I was actually just beginning, because my coach wouldn’t give me a chance to show him how good I could actually be. But once my coaches started to give me a chance I got better and better and started to love the sport even more.

It was a good thing that Jenna never gave up because now she is one of the starting pitchers for the EBHS varsity softball team . She can now pitch up to 58 mph and they are always in the strike zone. Jenna had to learn from a young age how much commitment you need to be successful in not just softball but in life. She works countless hours on getting better and trying to improve her game but she also takes school seriously. Everybody could learn a lesson from Jenna that handwork and dedication can get you far in life. Also to never give up because if you put in the effort you won’t be disappointed in the results.
